let us introduce you to Little Wishes™
Little Wishes™ is an incredible nonprofit organization founded by pediatric nurses (one of whom we are lucky enough to call family) and staffed entirely by volunteers. to put it simply, Little Wishes™ was created to bring comfort and happiness to hospitalized children. Little Wishes™ grants requests of limited dollar amounts but of significant value to seriously ill children during their hospitalization. these children’s treatments can often be rigorous, painful, and the effects lasting – both physically and mentally. Little Wishes™ delivers modest gifts that greatly ease hospitalized children’s pain and serve to improve their spirits and outlook during their hospitalization.
Little Wishes™ gives hospitalized children things that they are passionate about and that bring them joy. Some examples of children’s desires have been books, music, DVD's, art supplies, clothing, toys and games. Children receive all Little Wishes™ gifts in the hospital with the purpose of bringing comfort and distraction to the child enduring medical treatments and regimes. But children don’t get just one wish – what makes the Little Wishes™ program unique is that a child may make another request fourteen days after receiving their first gift! You can imagine what that means for children who endure frequent hospitalizations or have been in the hospital for weeks or months – they are given significant and happy events to look forward to.
Since it was founded in 2003, Little Wishes™ has given nearly 10,000 gifts to hospitalized children. there are no words to fully describe the impact that Little Wishes™ has on seriously ill children during their hospitalization. but, as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words – check out the Little Wishes™ Facebook page and take a few minutes to scroll through the photos of hospitalized children receiving their Little Wishes™ gifts and absorb the children's expressions of pure joy.
Our hearts have been touched by Little Wishes™ and the seriously ill children whose lives it enriches. so, do us a favor – forgo getting us a gift and donate to Little Wishes™ instead.
